Daftar Asfar to host a series of workshops during Amman Design Week 2019
During Amman Design Week 2019, Daftar Asfar will be showcasing The First Daftar, The Digital Daftar and The New Mexico Daftar, along with a 7m scroll depicting a selection of works, and a video that has ‘stitched’ together the pages of all three editions.
This exhibition will take place at the Duke’s Design Center, King Hussein Street, Amman, on the following dates; October 8, 9 and 11.
For this exhibition iteration, the key component is to reunite/catch up with participating artists of Daftar Asfar, introduce the project to varied audiences, and create an engaging workshop programme around the sketchbook practice.
We are happy to be hosting workshops by Daftar Asfar artists: Nour Taher, Shereen Quttaineh, Dina Fawakhiri, Tala Abdulhadi, Yasmine Nabulsi and Nour Nsheiwat.

Below are descriptions of the workshops:
IDENTITY COLLAGE
Nour Taher
October 8, 6:00pm-9:00pm
Join us in a workshop that explores collage, surrealism, and creating stories using juxtaposed images. Explore how piecing together different magazine cut outs can result in playful and experimental narratives.
DEAR DIARY
Yasmine Al Nabulsi and Tala Abdul Hadi
October 9, 6:00pm- 9:00pm
This workshop will explore the sketchbook as a playful tool for journaling, reflection. Participants are encouraged to interact with the sketchbook as they would with a journal or diary. The sketchbook is often a deeply intimate space for an artist. A place to document, experiment, process, and reflect their innermost thoughts.
EMBROIDERED COLLAGES
Shereen Quttaineh
October 11, 11:00-2:00
Explore combining fabric and paper, through learning how to create textured compositions using embroidery stitches and more. Each participant will create a unique fabric and mixed medium collage. The session ends with a reflection of the process and outcome.
CO-LAB
Dina Fawakhiri
October 11, 2:30-4:30
Explore the unexpected surprises of collaboration, exchange and idea building. Participants will work together on a series of playful exercises that will result in one large collaborative work.
CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE
Nour Nsheiwat
October 11, 4:30-6:30
Explore the Duke’s quaint Diwan through sketching simple perspective interiors of this old house. Participants will learn one-point perspective and two point perspective, while reflecting on the history and untold stories of the home.
